Its Mission Store generates funds for the organization, plus provides a place to work for folks trying to get back on their feet. It also provides clothing, free of charge, to those in need. You can donate adult and children's clothing in good condition, along with furniture, working appliances and outdoor furniture, among other items for the Mission Store. Best of all the Mission will come to you to take away your donated goods. To schedule a pick up, call 1-800-528-8825 or log onto the Mission's website to fill out an online form. The Military Order of the Purple Heart Service Foundation 415 Keim Blvd. Burlington, New Jersey 08016 (Burlington County) 609-239-1553 The principal purpose of this organization is to raise funds to support Veterans' Services and welfare programs, conducted through the Military Order of the Purple Heart USA. What's great about this Burlington County good cause is it will come to you to pick up your gently used goods. All you need to do is call the pickup hotline at 609-239-1553 to arrange a pickup time, and then bag up your donations, mark them as "Purple Heart," and leave them in a mutually agreed-upon location outside your home. You will receive a receipt that you can use for tax purposes. The Purple Heart has a Bucks County, Pennsylvania office as well. Fisherman's Mark 50 York Street Lambertville (Hunterdon County) 609-397-0194 Fisherman's Mark takes donations of gently used clothing for men, women and children on the days that its thrift store is open: Tuesday and Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. You may also bring non-perishables for its food pantry during this time. Twice a year Fisherman's Mark holds a large yard sale and will take donations of household furniture, toys and the like to sell as part of its fundraising. But you have to call first to find out when the sale is and when they will be taking donations. |
